York Mind
The advocacy service is a service run by York Mind. However we keep our information seperately, and our service is confidential and impartial.
Mind operates as a national body to which smaller organisations, pay a fee to affiliate too. The affiliating organisations are collectively known as Local Mind Associations (LMA’s) of which, York Mind is one. Affiliating to the national body means we benefit from being part of a large national organisation whilst keeping our independence.
Our History
In 2011 York Mind was formed from the merger of two local mental health charities in York, Our Celebration and York and District Mind. This merger created an organisation with a combined experience of over 100 years in providing services and support to the people of York.
York Mind are an independent local mental health charity which aims to empower individuals experiencing mental ill health to start on the pathway to recovery. We believe that the condition should never define the person and consequently our recovery model encompasses every aspect of our clients’ lives: personal, social and professional.
York Mind deliver a range of services targeted at improving mental health, building resilience and increasing independence. We currently work with a wide range of individuals who benefit from our support including older people, younger people, people with learning disabilities and long term physical health problems.
York Mind and York Advocacy ares based in Clifton Green. York Mind is funded through a mixture of contracts, grants and donations.
